Calculate new BMI by Nick Trefethen

Height:  cm
Weight:  kg

The calculator gives you the new BMI. It is developed by the British mathematician Nick Trefethen. According to him, the traditional BMI will give shorter people too low values and too big values to taller people. If you are 169 cm tall, new BMI gives the same value as traditional BMI.

Traditional BMI is calculated as the body weight divided by the square of the body height. New BMI uses 2.5 instead of 2 as exponent. It will furthermore multiply the value by 1.3.

You will receive information whether you are overweight or underweight. You will be given also the traditional BMI.
